The Spanish are here!

One of the Batam shipyards (there are more than 70 on the island) has hired a Spanish contracting firm – and they have discovered Goodies Restaurant. Many of the men brought their wives to live here and these Spaniards and Venezuelans now are regular customers, often coming in large groups.

Recently, they asked our Chef Marco to make them a special group meal of Spanish food. About 20 of the group attended. They are working at the ASL shipyard at Tanjung Uncang for Nippon Steel. Their special meal included ossobuco, octopus salad and crema catalana.

About 2bagsandapack

Lifetime journalist, author, magazine editor and publisher, now semi-retired and traveling the world. My plan, after living in Costa Rica for 14 months, was to visit a new country in southern Europe every three months to experience the culture and the challenge of adapting to a new environment, while on a fixed income. That plan was sidetracked when I was offered a job in Indonesia, providing an opportunity to explore Asia. Indonesia lasted for a 4 wonderful years but I have now moved on to Hua Hin, Thailand.
