Well, made it through Christmas. Business was excellent at Goodies both for Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Christmas buffet dinner was awesome and we had a large crowd for the afternoon. And unusually, we had a large crowd of mostly locals in the evening. Business more than doubled from last year.
Our Santa was great. Wayne, Doug’s son-in-law, played the part to the hilt, ho-ho-hoing his way from the parking lot, where the kids were waiting for him, through the entire restaurant and finally for the gift-giving with the kids. That was the best part; lots of laughs, especially when some of the younger children panicked at the sight of this dirty old man in the red suit and the huge white beard. It was really scary for a few, including Doug’s son Kevin, who would not go near good old St. Nick. After the gifts were done, the kids opened the pinata for treats.
Even I had a surprise – a gift from Yvonne and Risma that I had to sit on Santa’s lap to accept. I believe that is the first (and hopefully the last) time I’ve ever sat on Santa’s knee.
Merry Christmas all!!
